Welcome Message and Instructions

Welcome to Cub Climbing Day for Spring 2021!

PLEASE READ THIS EMAIL COMPLETELY. YOU MAY NEED TO SAVE FOR FUTURE REFERENCE.

We are excited for your arrival at the Lawhorn Scouting Base. There are a few things you will need to know before you arrive.

Check-In will begin at 8:30 AM at the climbing center on the Flint River Adventure Area side of Lawhorn.

Please be prepared to have your temperature taken. You will also be asked a series of questions for Covid-19 screening.

Check-In is located at the Pavilion in front of the climbing towers. Look for the check-in table right in front. Please remember to social distance and wear a mask if you are within 6 feet of another participant.

ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST BRING & WEAR A MASK THROUGHOUT THE CLIMBING PORTION OF THE EVENT. NO ONE WITHOUT A MASK WILL BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE. VERY FEW EXTRA MASKS ARE AVAILABLE.

We have restrooms and hand washing stations available right next to the towers.

If you arrive on Friday Evening, please go directly to your campsite. (Flint Campsite for those who have not previously reserved a campsite.) Please see the map attached. Jane Cleveland will greet you upon arrival. You can reach her at (706) 975-5648.  If you reserved a campsite prior, please go to the campsite you reserved. Please remember that Cub Scouts CANNOT be dropped off. An adult must remain with them throughout the day.

No food will be provided for this event. Please plan accordingly. Please remember to bring a water bottle and plenty of water. Also, please remember your camping gear if you are camping.

For climbing you will need to remember closed toed shoes. This is a requirement for climbing. Shoes with a tread are best.

There will be a safety briefing at 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM. You must attend one of these to climb. You are not required to attend both.

We are always looking for new instructors! Ask me how to become a COPE & Climbing Instructor!

If you have any questions, please reach out to me directly. I am happy to help.
