Level 2 C.O.P.E. Instructor Training (Cancelled by Climbing Committee)

May 29-31 2020

By Invitation Only.  Must currently be a Level 1 COPE instructor with potential and skills to be a Level 2 Instructor, and have approval of their council COPE and Climbing Committee chair.  Level 2 instructors supervise both high and low COPE programs, and run climbing and rappelling towers.  This class will draw students all councils within Area 9 and qualifies Level 2 Instructors to work any camps within participating councils.  Training will be at Lawhorn Scouting Base 29-31 May 2020 (all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday); class start time 8am on Friday.  Participants must successfully complete ALL training to earn a Level 2 card.  Housing will be available (cabins) beginning Thursday night 28 May for those desiring it; bring your own bedding and towels.  B/L/D will be provided Friday and Saturday; B/L on Sunday.  

NOTE:  There remains much uncertainty re the COVID 19 situation.  We will practice social distancing as best we can and make accommodations where possible.  Recognize however, that that is impossible in many situations in COPE and climbing programs.  Also, class may be cancelled, perhaps at the last minute, if the COVID 19 situation worsens.

Times:            5/28 - Registration from 6:00pm - 9:00pm

                       5/29 Friday - Sessions all day 8:00am- 9:00pm

                       5/30 Saturday – Sessions all day - 8:00am - 9:00pm

                       5/31 Sunday - Sessions all day - 8:00am - 5:00pm

Cost:                $200.00 (includes camping fees, printed materials and instruction, and meals)

Deadline:          Registration due 2 weeks prior to event.

Qualifications:   Current COPE Level 1 Instructor, and age 21 or older.

Meals:              May 29-30 2020 Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

                       May 31 2020- Breakfast, Lunch

Note:  Each participant will need to fill out the BSA Health & Medical Form, Parts A, B & C and turn in at time of arrival for the training.
