LIFEGUARD TRAINING:
Friday – Sunday, April 22-24, 2016 – For those of you interested in taking American Red Cross Shallow Water/Waterpark Lifeguard Training, here’s your chance to take this in an indoor pool! This is a great training for those planning to work as a lifeguard this summer, those with back yard or neighborhood pools, and those who do a lot of water activities with family and/or friends. For those of you wanting the full deep water training, this is a good way to get the majority of your training out of the way; then the rest of the training for ARC Lifeguarding and BSA Lifeguard will only take about 5 hours once Lake Ini-To at Lawhorn Scouting Base warms up! If you attend this class, there is no additional charge for the 5-hour deep water session this summer!
You MUST attend ALL class sessions unless prior arrangements have been made with the Instructor. When you register, you must provide a good, personal email. The instructor will be sending a link to your email to complete the online portions of this class. You will then pay a $5 fee to access the Red Cross online training system. All online portions of the class must be completed by midnight, Monday, April 25, 2016. Your card from the Red Cross will then come in your email.
This class is open to ALL youth and adults, male or female, Scouts and non-scouts, 15 years of age or older. Class space is very limited, so register quickly! If we end up with a waiting list, we will schedule an additional weekend.
POOL LOCATION: Hephzibah Children’s Home, 6601 Zebulon Rd, Macon, Ga. 31220. This is less than half of a mile off of Interstate 475 in Macon.
Class fee is $75 per person and includes all training sessions, training supplies and materials, Certified Lifeguard Instructors and certification cards for both ARC Lifeguarding and BSA Lifeguard. Again, if you attend this class, there is no additional charge for the 5-hour deep water session this summer! The fee does not include meals, transportation, or housing. As registrations come in, for those of you who would like to try to carpool, I will put you in touch with each other.
The schedule is included for your convenience. Friday and Saturday evenings states that we will go until 10:00 pm, but those sessions rarely go that late. This will, however, be an intense 3-day training! Note that the Sunday training does not begin until 2:00 pm. This is to accommodate church schedules. Please eat lunch immediately following church as we will begin promptly at 2:00 pm and will not end until sometime around 6:00 pm.
If you have any questions at all, please contact Deborah McKay at 770-634-9881 or Deborah.McKay@scouting.org
