Friends of Scouting

The Flint River Council's annual "Friends of Scouting" contributions campaign enables the council to provide an outstanding program to over 9,000 youth and adults in eight counties of middle Georgia. Through the Scouting programs our children, families, and communites are stronger and better prepared for the future.


Why is it so Important to Contribute?
Scouting families play a vital role in the annual Friends of Scouting campaign because they see, on an ongoing basis, how important the Scouting program is in the lives of their Scouts. The focus of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare youth to face challenges and excel. To meet that goal, the Scouting program uses a comprehensive, values based program infused with a mixture of fun, outdoor adventure and traditional values. The Boy Scouts of America prepares youth to be the leaders of tomorrow.


Family Friends of Scouting Presentation
Units are asked to plan and conduct a Family Friends of Scouting presentation annually. Usually conducted at the February Blue and Gold banquet for Cub Scout Packs and the first quarter Court of Honor bor Boy Scout Troops, this ten-minute presentation provides families of Scouting participants the opportunity to support the Scouting program financially.

Five Steps to a Successful Family Friends of Scouting Presentation
  1. Schedule your unit's Friends of Scouting presentation with your District Executive.
  2. Inform your parents about the presentation by placing it on your unit calendar and in your unit newsletter.
  3. Recruit a Family Friends of Scouting coordinator to help make sure that every family has an opportunity to support Scouting with a person gift.
  4. Cooridnate your presentation with the trained Friends of Scouting presentor from the district.
  5. Have a positive attitude about your unit's presentation. Set the tone for new families in Scouting, so everyone has an opportunity to support their son's Scouting program.
