BSA/NRA Rifle & Shotgun Instructor Training

Join Nationally vetted BSA NCS Staff in a fantastic opportunity to receive both Rifle Instructor credentials and Shotgun Instructor credentials for the low cost of $125 per participant.  This program is designed for those volunteers who are willing to help further the Shooting Sports programs at their local council and for those that will be serving as Shooting Sports Directors for Summer Camp Programs.

Because the Shooting Sports Director program is so in depth, it is now required that you receive your NRA Rifle and NRA shotgun instructor certifications in advance of attending this course.

This course is also for volunteers for the Flint River Council.  You must be willing to become a part of the Shooting Sports cadre at Lawhorn Scouting Base and be willing to help with shooting sports events at camp.  There are many opportunities to help during the year.

What is included:
National Rifle Association Basic Instructor Training, Rifle Instructor Training Course, and Shotgun Instructor Training Couse

Who should attend:
Only registered BSA adult volunteers who are already familiar with Rifle and Shotgun shooting and who are willing to support Council shooting sports activities a minimum of two (2) weekends per year OR one full week at summer camp.  This course should also be attended by those that have been hired by their local council to be Shooting Sports Directors for Summer 2017.

Requirements:
Participants will be required to demonstrate minimal shooting skills with a rifle and a shotgun at the Camp Thunder ranges before course begins if necessary.

All meals are included during the training sessions, cabins (8 per cabin), ammunition, firearms, range fees, kitchen fees, classroom fees, books, binders as well as note pads and markers are also included in your fees.

Other Information:
You must register through your local council National Camp School portal.  Please contact your local council office for all registration questions.
