Welcome Scout Executive, Kelvin Williams!
To the Flint River Council Family:
I am pleased to announce the selection of Kelvin Williams as Scout Executive of the Flint River Council, effective July 16, 2014.
Upon graduating from the University of Georgia, where he was a letterman on the football team, Kelvin began his Scouting Career as District Executive in the neighboring Chattahoochee Council in Columbus Georgia in August 2001.  He has also served in the Northeast Georgia Council in Jefferson, GA.  He was promoted to Director of Field Service of the North Florida Council........

Lawhorn Beaver Day, September 13, 2014
Here is YOUR chance to help out at camp.  Join us for Lawhorn Beaver Day where we will be busy as beavers sprucing up our camp!  There will be projects for all ages and skill levels-rain or shine!
Join us as an individual, family or unit.  You can make it a mini escape and stay for the entire weekend for free!

Mountian Biking:  Our new bikes have arrived and the trails are ready for your pack or troop.  Call the Camping Department now at 770-227-4556 to book your mountain biking weekend!
ATV Program:  We have been approved for the new BSA ATV program beginning at Summer Camp, 2014.  This program is designed for the novice rider to learn safety and maintenance and to experience the fun of an open trail ride with trained instructors on specific back country trails.  This program is designed for Scouts ages 14 and up.  Reservations will begin May 1st for Fall 2014.  Check back with us for more information.
Aquatics Mania:  Registration is now open for the opportunity to earn 8 aquatics merit badges; Rowing, Swimming, Lifesaving, Motorboating, Canoeing, Kayaking, White Water, Sailing.  Classes will be offered this summer at the Chandler Waterfront at Lawhorn Scouting Base.

2014 Flint River Adventure Race Series
Bike - Paddle - Run
Are you Scout enough to handle the ultimate Scout High Adventure Race Series?  The series will include a Mountain Bike Challenge in March, a Canoe Race down the Flint River in May, Kayaking in August, a Thunder Mudder Run in September and finally a Backcountry Trail Run in November.  All events will take place at the Lawhorn Scouting Base.
